In need of a nice pretty looking cocktail? Or maybe you are just a big fan of pears. This pear gin fizz is a delicious option. This pear gin fizz is easy to make and has very subtle vanilla notes. The more juice you can extract from your pear the more flavourful it will be.
This is a nice twist on a classic gin and tonic that is sure to impress all your friends. If you want to bee really fancy you can add cinnamon sugar to the rim.
Ingredients:
- Pear Vanilla Syrup
- 1 cup finely chopped/blended pears Bartlett pears work best
- 1/2cup organic sugar
- 1/2cup water
- 1/4cup corn syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla
- To Make One Cocktail
- 1 1/2oz Gin about 3 Tbsp
- 2Tbsp pear purée syrup
- 3/4cup soda water
- Crushed ice to top
Tips & Tricks:
- Simple Syrup: When making the syrup you are not looking for it to reduce you just need to extract the juices from the pear and have all the sugar dissolve. Wait for the syrup to fully cool before adding it to your drink otherwise you will have a warm drink.
- Vanilla: To get a more concentrated vanilla flavour you can replace the corn syrup and vanilla extract with a pre made vanilla syrup.
- Pears: Bartlett or Anjou pears are the best for this recipe as they will breakdown the most when cooking. You can use other varieties of pears but they will likley impart less flavour since they can’t breakdown as well.
- Making It In Advance: I recommend making the syrup in advance and storing it in your fridge for up to a week. The rest of the drink however should be assembled just before consumption to maintain the carbonation. These cocktails are also better served by the glass rather than in a pitcher.
