Some times you crave that delectable apple pie flavour but don’t want to spend a few hours making a whole pie. These delicious air-fryer apple pie bites are ready in under 15 minutes. Using store bought biscuit dough and apple pie filling its as simple as assembling and popping into the air fryer until golden brown.
These apple pie bites turn a gorgeous golden brown after baking and are lathered in butter rolled in sugar to really accentuate the apple pie flavours. A can of these will make roughly 20 bites so you and all your friends can enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 1 tube of Pilsbury biscuits
- 1 can of apple pie filling
- 2-4 tbsp of butter
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 tsp of cinnamon (can also use an apple pie spice blend)
If you don’t want to use a can of pre made pie filling you can quickly make your own. Simply chop up an apple or two very finely and add it to a small pot. Add a table spoon of sugar, a dash of cinnamon and a splash of water. Cook until the apples have gone soft and the sugars have created a jam around them. If you notice that the apples are sticking to the bottom of the pan add a little more water and reduce the heat slightly. Adjust to your personal preferences.
Tips & Tricks:
- Filling the Bites: Be careful not to overfill the bites. If you have to much filling it will leak from the ball when cooking or make it very messy to seal the dough.
- Sealing the Bottoms: Make sure that you pinch together the bottom of the balls because if there are holes the filling will come out while baking.
- Biscuit Alternatives: Store bought biscuit dough is by far the easiest but you can also use your favourite pie dough or puff pastry instead.
- Don’t Have An Air Fryer: Use your over! Simply preheat your oven to 375ºF and bake on a lined baking sheet for 15-17 minutes or until they are golden brown.
