A banana green smoothie is the perfect way to start your day or even just enjoy as a nice afternoon snack. You can pack a whole bunch of greens into it and not even taste them. The peanut butter and banana are both such strong and delicious flavours, if it weren’t for the colour you might not even know this has some veggies in it.
Banana green smoothie are a great refresh after a vacation or holiday and you want to start your day off nutritiously. Green smoothies can get way more intense than this one with lots of additional greens and less sweeteners, so this is a good starting point.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup almond milk or soy milk (I like vanilla flavour)
- 1 1/2 cups fresh spinach
- 1 banana
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup (add more or less to taste)
- 5-6 ice cubes
Tips & Tricks:
- Milk: Pick your favourite kid of milk for this recipe. You can even add some yogurt to make this a much creamier smoothie.
- Nut Butter: You can add whatever kind of nut butter you have around.
- Blending: Make sure to add enough liquids to get a smooth blend. If you don’t have a high powered blender it can be very challenging to get a thicker smoothie for a bowl if that is your desired outcome.
- Don’t blend your smoothie in advance. If you want you can keep the ingredients minus the liquids prepared in a baggie. Then you can remove the bag for the freezer or fridge to blend whenever you want.
Add Ins:
- Protein Powder: I recommend a vanilla or possibly peanut butter protein powder to add extra flavour to this. This will help to make the smoothie more filling.
- Chia Seeds: A tablespoon of chia seeds add extra healthy fats and helps make the smoothie more filling.
- Hemp Hearts: Adding some of these is also a great source of healthy fats.
- Other fruits: You could make this a more tropical smoothie and add some mango or pineapple.
