Need a quick pick me up in the afternoon? Noticing that you feel a little bit snacky? These Protein Peanut Butter Bites are the perfect solution. While this does totally sound like a tv show commercial pitch these really are great. Make sure you have a high quality protein powder or at least one that you know you like the flavour of. The powder does heavily affect the taste of these bites.

You can prep these bites in advance and store them in your fridge or freeze. Just grab a couple and the your sweet craving will be curbed in a much healthier manner.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 1/3 cups old fashioned oats (rolled oats)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla protein powder (you can substitute peanut butter flavoured protein powder or even chocolate)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup mini dark chocolate chips

Customize your protein peanut butter bites: add chia seeds, flax seeds, chopped nuts, dried fruit (cranberries), shredded coconut and other kind of chocolate.

Peanut Butter Protein Bites

Tips & Tricks:

  • Oats: Rolled oats and old fashioned oats are the same thing and will work great in this recipe.
  • Protein Powder: Protein powder makes up a good amount of this recipe. I tested this once using vegan protein powder and the natural earthy flavour did not partner super well. Be sure that you are a fan of the flavour of your protein powder before making this.
  • Peanut Butter: You can swap the peanut butter for any of your favourite not butters.
  • Storage: These will last for up to 3 months in the freezer.
  • Rolling the Balls: The balls will be a bit sticky but if you wet your hands when rolling it will make it easier to maintain the shape before freezing.
